Happy Tuesday everyone, got a question for you, a technical question about licensing... It's actually a couple of related questions, here goes: Do any of you know about transferring a clinical license from New York to Florida? Do the states have reciprocity for the licenses or do you have to test again and go through the supervised hours again? Or, if it's an easier question to answer, can you tell me where to look to find the answer? I understand what you do, but I don't yet fully understand the various terms of what is called what in your fields of work. Some guidance would be greatly appreciated. Comment below, anything you can offer will be helpful. Thanks Chip [email protected] My full name is Amanda Werdann. I work at one facility with a full caseload, The Forum in Deerfield Beach, Broward County. Learning More about pioneers in Dementia and Different ModalitiesLadies and gentleman, allow me to introduce Naomi Feil. Feil, as a 4-year-old refugee from Nazi Germany, grew up in the Montefiore Home for the Aged in Cleveland Ohio, where her father was the administrator and her mother, the head of the Social Service Department. The older adults were her direct neighbors and friends. This gave Naomi unique empathy and insight into the world of disoriented elders which became the foundation stones for the Validation method. In 1982, with the help of a few supporters, she created the Validation Training Institute (VTI) as a vehicle for spreading information on the method, as well as training practitioners and trainers. Over the past 37 years, VTI has created and delivered constantly evolving training programs, published four books in 12 languages, created films and built an international network of partnerships. Validation, once a maverick concept, is comfortably in-synch with contemporary thinking as Feil’s concepts have inspired a generation of ‘person-centered’ eldercare. Click on the button below to go to the Validation Training Institute's website and browse through their wealth of resources for caregivers and family members. Thanks to Amanda for bringing us this information. I am always looking for interesting things to share so please send me your interesting things! Chip - [email protected] This is interesting... Some residents in a UK senior facility made the most of their time during Covid by recreating album covers. See the all of them at www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/07/13/890569181/at-u-k-care-home-residents-brilliantly-recreate-iconic-album-covers My favorite is the David Bowie Aladdin Sane. What's yours? Good morning everyone! Last week during the Roundtable Carol mentioned an interesting app you can use for a Visuospatial exercise focusing on visualization and motor planning. The App is called Mind Games and the specific game is called 'Mirror Images.'

Wellness Fall Festival at Abbey DelrayAbby Delray Senior Living Facility is having a Wellness fair on Tuesday, November 9th, from 10 am to 2 pm.
We are representing as a vendor at the fair and, if you are available on Tuesday, would love it if you could come too. It's a chance for us to present to new patients and facilities as well as a chance to meet some new people who, hopefully, will become new patients at new facilities. |
